Stand-up comedian Danila Poperechny (known as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation) was angry that his Telegram channel was included in the list of foreign agents due to monetization of his YouTube channel.

“I did not receive this money by showing foreign advertising, this is an ordinary affiliate program for Russian advertising to which Russian companies contribute money. This percentage went to all bloggers; “They all had affiliate programs on YouTube,” he explained.

Poperechny believes that the decision of the Ministry of Justice shows how “stupid” the laws work in Russia. He has an Instagram account (the owner of the company Meta is known as an extremist and is banned in Russia) and X.

The blogger also joked that he opened the news “with a chill” about the reason his name was added to the foreign agents registry. He wanted to know which intelligence agency he worked for.

On October 5, a representative from the Ministry of Justice spoke in court about Poperechny’s known a foreign representative due to receiving funds from two foreign entities: American Fullscreen ($6.4 thousand) and Irish Google Ireland Limited ($55 thousand).

“So, I work for him. You could guess it from my general appearance…” Poperechny joked.
