The plot tells the story of two twin sisters Anya and Nadya (Mikhailova), who have been protecting each other from danger since childhood, but suddenly the girls’ paths diverge. Anya became an MMA fighter, and Nadya went to Japan to seek her own path and freedom. One day, Anya realizes that her sister is in trouble. To save her twin, she will have to challenge the Yakuza herself.
Alena Mikhailova admitted that the role of Nadia became a challenge for her, because in preparation the “Chick” star had to train with masters of sports and champions of numerous martial arts competitions.
“Cupid” is a synonym for the word “challenge”. Most of the roles in my filmography are victim roles, but Anya Vdovina is an anti-victim. And the biggest challenge for me in this work was to learn to defend myself and fight,” said the star.
The show features both Russian and foreign actors: Mikhailova, as well as Yuri Kolokolnikov, Ekaterina Vilkova, Askar Ilyasov, Valentin Zing, Izumi Sano, Yuta Koga, Murat Bisenbin and others who starred in the film. The directors were Andrei Dzhunkovsky (“Sweet Life”) and Ilya Ovsenev, for whom this work was the first large-scale project abroad.
The shooting of the show took place in Russia and Asia. Yuri Kolokolnikov emphasized that working abroad is no different from working at home.
