According to Safronov, with Delon, not only a layer of cinema remained, but also a phenomenon of the 20th century. The artist met Delon at the Moscow Film Festival in 1999, where he was awarded for his contribution to world cinema. The next day, Safronov presented the artist with his painting, but traditions did not allow Delon to wear Safronov’s work.
“After learning who the author was, they refused to give permission without proper documents from the Ministry of Culture. Alain Delon handed over the picture to the accompanying party – representatives of a theater company that was supposed to stage a play with Delon’s participation in Moscow in a month, so that I could arrange everything properly,” he explained.
However, the theater company never gave the painting to Delon because he did not attend the performance with his participation. Nikas Safronov took the painting and brought it to Alain Delon in Paris.
