Since the beginning of 2024, more than 50 short and classic films from the Soyuzmultfilm film studio have been acquired by distributors in various countries, including France, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, the USA and Canada. This is reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the film studio.
The growth in the film studio’s revenue from selling short films to international markets has already reached 30% this year compared to 2023.
“We are happy to share this wealth in every corner of our planet, because Russian cartoons are carriers of universal human values, and when told through the language of images, they reach the hearts of millions of viewers around the world,” says Yuliana Slashcheva, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Soyuzmultfilm film studio.
The most popular films among buyers abroad were “Christmas Tree School”, “Sock for the Star”, “Squirrel and Sleigh”, “Assa”, “Girl, Dragon and Dad”, “Hot Star” and “Two Streetcars”.
The European company Les Films du Whippet is known to have organized screenings of Soyuzmultfilm short film collections in cinemas in France, Belgium and Switzerland. In Greece, many of the studio’s films were shown for schoolchildren as part of educational cinema programs at the Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young Audiences in Greece. The French company Saint Maur Enterprise published the pictures on its online platform Benshi.
At the same time, ten Soyuzmultfilm films, including “The Scarlet Flower,” “The Snow Queen,” and “The Secret of the Third Planet,” were released on Blu-ray media in Canada and the United States.
