Alexey Gorbashov, the leader and guitarist of the Mirage band, criticized the Olympics in Sochi in a conversation with socialbites.ca.
Gorbashov admitted he was unimpressed by the opening of the 2014 Olympic Games, likening the event to the style of Christmas lights.
“It’s expensive and it’s worthless. It was like we had completely forgotten how to do it. But what the French showed was a real tragedy when you’re embarrassed by what happened and you want to take your eyes off the screen,” the guitarist shared.
Gorbashov is confident that the opening of the new Olympic Games will not be comparable to the one that took place in Moscow in 1980.
“I saw those Olympics. It was really touching when the bear flew away and people were crying in the stadium,” he said.
The 2024 Olympic Games will begin on July 26, with competitions running through August 11. Opening ceremony It happened On the Seine River. The Olympic opening ceremony was heavily criticized, with the organizers accused of disrespecting believers, particularly for their parody of Leonardo da Vinci’s “The Last Supper.”
According to Gorbashov, the organizers of the 2024 Olympics wanted to make a surprise and they succeeded.
“Everything was ‘wonderful’: swimming in the Seine, cardboard beds, swarms of rats, mountains of garbage and the opening ceremony, where the organisers hit rock bottom. There is still plenty of time left before the Olympics, and I think the French have something else up their sleeves to surprise the world with,” said the musician.
