Ukrainian artist Andrei Danilko, who performs under the stage name Verka Serduchka, explained why he speaks Russian. Interview with Ltv channel nail News.ru.
Danilko said that he did not want to break himself and give up his usual language, as most of the songs were written by him in Russian. He admitted that this could cause mixed feelings among Ukrainians.
“The mood is broken, everyone is very angry. And then probably don’t come to concerts. In fact, it’s not the same to specifically translate something that hasn’t been translated, it’s untranslated,” says the artist.
The artist has no doubt that it is not he who speaks the “language of the attacker”, but that “the attacker speaks Russian”, and that without Russian he cannot communicate with Latvian pop singer Laima Vaikule.
Danilko is the only invited guest at the Vaikule Rendezvous festival in Jurmala aforementioned Russian.
