Ivan Zharkov, the “official voice” of the Marvel movie hero Thor in Russia, talked about the dubbing of films under sanctions. Interview with the artist published edition 59.ru.

According to Zharkov, the dubbing sanctions have changed little – the process remains the same and the recording is official.

“It’s the same way: A studio, a client comes with a film, they provide him with a director and a translator. “So the client brings the text, it is translated, it is edited, the director selects the artists, everyone sits in the studio and writes in the same way,” he said.

Where films are brought from, which should not be officially shown in Russia, and how copies get into cinemas – Zharkov does not know and admits that this mechanism is illegal, and it depends on those who buy copies from official sources and sell them to Russia.

The artist is also annoyed by the quality of “pirated” films released in Russian cinemas – for example, he was disappointed by watching the sequel to “Dune”. He compared the situation to the underground video parlors of the nineties, where the picture was damaged due to repeated recording of tapes.
