The third international Moscow Jazz Festival was held in Moscow from 10 to 16 June with the participation of more than 300 thousand people. The press service of the event told socialbites.ca about this.
The festival featured a total of 300 performances by more than a thousand artists from 19 countries, including Spain, France and Italy. As part of the Moscow Jazz Festival, an all-Russian youth jazz groups competition was held, after which the best 100 ensembles from cities all over Russia were selected.
The event took place over seven days at 11 venues in Moscow, with the main program in Zaryadye, Muzeon and Sokolniki parks and other locations being free and open to the public. At the same time, the main outdoor area of the festival was the Hermitage Garden. Igor Butman and the Moscow Jazz Orchestra, Dhafer Youssef (Tunisia), Richard Bona (USA), Avishai Cohen (Israel), Dmitry Malikov with the Pianomania Jazz program and others performed there.
The last event of the festival was the premiere of the play “Peter and the Wolf” created by Konstantin Khabensky, Butman and the Moscow Jazz Orchestra. For the first time in Russia, the legendary work of the SS was dressed in this outfit. From Prokofiev to the jazz arrangements of Christina Crete.
