The Petrogradsky District Court of St. Petersburg will consider the criminal case on the murder of Igor Talkov in absentia due to the absence of the defendant Valery Shlyafman in Russia. This has been reported Online Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.
The prosecutor’s office approved the indictment against Talkov’s concert director Valery Shlyafman. He was charged in absentia under paragraph “e” of article 102 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR (“Intentional murder committed under aggravating circumstances, endangering the lives of many people”), article 15 and paragraph “e” of the Criminal Code. Article 102 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR (“Attempted intentional murder committed under aggravating circumstances, endangering the lives of many people”).
In June 2024, the Investigative Committee of Russia completed the investigation into the murder of singer Igor Talkov. The investigator found that in October 1991, Shlyafman fatally wounded Talkov while trying to shoot the representative of one of the artists, Igor Malakhov, with a pistol. Men fought behind the scenes of the Yubileiny Sports Palace.
Shlyafman fled to Israel and in 1992 was brought in absentia by the investigating authorities as a defendant for murder by negligence. Investigators restarted the case in 2021 and concluded that the crime was committed deliberately.
