Actor Vladimir Sterzhakov admitted in the program “The Secret of a Million” that he had to leave the Moscow Art Theater, where he worked for 20 years.
According to Sterzhakov, one day a compromising article was published, claiming that he spoke unflatteringly about the head of the Moscow Art Theater Oleg Tabakov and his wife Marina Zudina. The actor said that his colleague Stanislav Sadalsky wrote slander about him. He said this was despicable.
After the article, Sterzhakov began to have problems with roles.
“I played in the theater for 20 years and there were main roles, but here I got a temporary role with almost no mention,” the artist recalled.
Sterzhakov admitted that he did not discuss the situation with Tabakov. There was no point in making excuses for something that didn’t happen.
“It was very disappointing. The decision was difficult to make. Even now my heart is bleeding. This is my theater. “There were invitations from other theatres, leading theatres, but I couldn’t do it,” the actor shared.
Vladimir Sterzhakov began his career in 1981 when he was accepted into the Moscow Art Theater troupe, where he served until 2001. Five years later, he made his film debut in the drama Plumbum or A Dangerous Game. In 2018 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Russia.
