Honored Artist of Russia Alexander Voevodin told socialbites.ca that the head of the Satire Theater Alexander Shirvindt, who died on March 15, had not been feeling well lately. The actor also noted that he should have been more careful with his colleague and “assimilated” to him more.
“This is of course sad and unexpected, and at the same time I somehow don’t want to believe it. I know you haven’t been feeling well lately. We’ve been communicating less lately. But my whole life is next to him: my theater debut and The Marriage of Figaro, where I played Cherubino, and scenes together. Time passed, when he was a theater director, I also participated in his plays, he had new productions. “When you communicate with a person for so long and know that you have a big life ahead of you, then you understand that you need to be more attentive and attentive, you need to absorb more from this person,” he said.
Actor Sergei Gazarov, artistic director of the Theater of Satire, announced the death of Alexander Shirvindt on March 15. According to him, the theater director died in the hospital.
Shirvindt was 89 years old. The artist is known for his roles in the films “Irony of Fate” and “Station for Two”. He worked actively on stage as a director and entertainer. Also in 2000–2021, Shirvindt served as artistic director of the Satire Theater and became the theater’s president in 2021.
