Director Leonid Kruglov, who recently presented a new documentary film “To the North Pole,” said: “Fontanka” About the danger of polar bears.
“I was constantly exposed to bears in danger. As the director of the Wrangel Island Nature Reserve says, there is no certified method of protection against bears. Officially nothing can be done against them, but we discovered a very interesting remedy,” Kruglov recalled.
According to the director, quadcopters are an extremely effective way to protect against polar bears. He noted that the crew includes very experienced helicopter operators who are adapted to scaring hunters using aircraft. When the program producers wanted to film the bears’ natural behavior, the drone flew at a high altitude so that the animal could not hear the buzzing. In case of danger, the helicopter descended and simulated an attack on a bear.
“When the bear begins to approach and already poses a threat, if you go directly to its face at a low altitude and press a little directly on it, the bear, as a rule, leaves,” Kruglov summarized.
