“Highway Artist”
direction. Dmitry Gribanov
An experienced thief named Artist (Yuri StoyanovCited as proof of his ability to transform, he is released after serving eight years in prison for attempted bank robbery. Now there is only one plan; a carefree life with spoils. But to implement it, you need to go to the hiding place in the hut bought for your son long ago. The latter, not wanting to have anything to do with the criminal, broke off relations with the Artist years ago and has never lived in this house. But the building is not empty: the Artist’s daughter-in-law and grandchildren have been settling here for some time. Because my son was arrested on suspicion of fraud. Later, the Artist decides to infiltrate his own family, disguised as a nanny, not only to become rich, but also to get to know his grandchildren better.
Another “stonovave” project shot after the movie “Vampires of the Central Region” and a new breath in the actor’s career. “The Artist from the High Road” is a standard comedy with Stoyanov’s plus or minus and subtly differs from other representatives of this cinematic trend in the proportions of harmfulness and good nature. As you know, Stoyanov is one of those things that you can look at forever, and in the circumstances where Stoyanov is dressed as a grandmother, there are basically no other options.

The mysterious professor of psychiatry Viktor Meshchersky (Fedor Bondarchuk) gathers eight people in a locked bunker as part of an experiment: four criminals (Petr Skvortsov, Sergei Goroshko, Elizaveta Shakira, Jal Ibragimov) and four people affected by their actions (Konstantin Plotnikov, Alena Mikhailova, Dmitry Vorobyov, Yulia Volkova). In exchange for the reward, they will have to spend the next 15 days together. Meshchersky assures that all participants in the process are completely safe, but this is not quite true – and it seems that the organizer of the experiment himself is also under threat.

The pilot of this psychological thriller in the spirit of “Call Center” and “Survival Game” is perhaps too generous with surprises, which is why the subsequent episodes are a little scary: as if the confidently taken rhythm will sag. However, you want to believe “Kalimba”: first of all, the series elegantly handles the fact that the entire first episode is devoted to exposition and skillfully plays the first cards; secondly, Bondarchuk rarely fails (especially when Paulina Andreeva is not involved in the case); and third, “Kalimba” has a truly strong and exciting cast.

“Automatically”
direction. Boris Akopov
Young brothers Roman and Zhenya from a provincial town (Slava Kopeikin and Denis Kosikov), who dream of paying off their debts and starting a new life, accidentally come across about one and a half hundred machines and realize that this is their chance. Of course, this has consequences: “Experimental” barrels disappeared directly from the factory, and a Moscow general claimed them. The latter instructs a police officer exiled here to find the gun, and the new case also becomes for him a chance to return to his old life.
Kinopoisk
The main contender for the “Boy’s Word” contest in 2024 is considered “Ten Automatics”: the voice of the “AIGEL” group is not heard, but no shortage of criminal showdowns is expected. Its difference from Zhora Kryzhovnikov’s hit lies in the cloudless weather here – “On Automatic” sometimes does not shy away from being a comedy, and this suits the series very well. Although director Boris Akopov rambles on about how directing is not a woman’s job, he clearly understands one thing about it: his debut show is captivating from the first minutes. It’s worth aiming for.

“Heretics”
direction. Alexey Kuzmin-Tarasov
Lawyer Olga Shilkovskaya due to alcohol addiction (Oksana Akinshina) life falls apart: After a drunken accident, the husband files for divorce, takes away his son and tries to deprive him of his parental rights. Olga, who is ready to do anything to get her child back, continues her career and makes a name for herself in divorce and family cases. But it turns out that professional success is associated with difficult moral choices.
As mentioned above, Bondarchuk rarely fails, and “Infidels” does not seem to be one of his rare mistakes. The series is captivating in its tone and stylistic impact, and this effect is reinforced by another outstanding performance by Akinshina. This time, the latter has at his disposal a completely convincing text, which, in parallel with the dramatic depth, pleases with the credibility of the genre: it seems that the basis of “Infidels” will be a classic legal procedure, only the local lawyer, instead of “Lincoln” there is a bench on the street and a hangover.
