Romanov was born in 1936 in the city of Kabakovsk, Sverdlovsk region (now the city of Serov). He graduated from the State Institute of Theater Arts in 1957 and began his career as an actor in theaters in Rostov-on-Don, Ryazan, Estonia and Latvia. Since 1969 he has been an actor in the Leningrad Komsomol Theater, and since 1971 he joined the Pushkin Academic Theater, working in the Liteiny Theater.

The artist started acting in films in the 50s and played more than 210 roles throughout his career. His credits include the series “Foundry”, “National Security Agent”, “Streets of Broken Lights”, “Deadly Force” and “Capercaillie”.

Urgently on the eve of music producer Bari Alibasov hospitalized with paralysis. According to media reports, the 76-year-old producer fell ill on the afternoon of February 25.
