The gala concert of the International Winter Art Festival conducted by People’s Artist of the USSR Yuri Bashmet ended in Sochi. In addition to classical works, the evening program included three world premieres performed by a symphony orchestra using Russian and Arab folk instruments. TASS.
The festival, which started on February 14, ended with a gala concert where famous artists such as Victoires de la musique award winner Vadim Repin and Mariinsky Theater soloist Olga Peretyatko performed. Singer Olga Peretyatko also returned to perform at the festival and performed her repertoire.
Egyptian musician Hassan Moatats El Molla, one of the guests of the festival, performed a solo on the traditional Arabic instrument rebab. He talked about the features of this instrument and presented the world premiere of the work “Night Visions of the Alhambra” for rebaba and orchestra.
Also at the festival, the composition “Dreams” by Denis Khorov, the winner of the X. Composition Competition held in Sochi, was performed for domra, balalaika, button accordion and symphony orchestra. This was the first time such a work was performed on the Winter Theater stage.
