Blade Runner 2099, the sequel to the science fiction films Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049, will be shot in the Czech Republic. In this respect reports Daily Screen.
Amazon will shoot the film at Barrandov Film Studios in Prague, with shooting to begin in June.
The plot of the series will take place 50 years after the events in the Blade Runner 2049 movie.
According to Petr Tikhy, director of the Barrandov film studio, quoted by the Czech news agency Česká tisková kancelář, the filmmakers will spend approximately $43 million on filming in the Czech Republic.
The director of the series will be Jonathan van Tulleken, who worked on the comedy Movie 34 and Misfits. Original 1982 Blade Runner director Ridley Scott will executive produce the project.
