Produced by Leonid Burlakov said The project “Snob” is about an important meeting with Ilya Lagutenko, the soloist of the group “Mumiy Troll” in 1996, as a result of which it was decided to revive the activities of the group after a six-year break.

Burlakov recalled that Lagutenko was then working in China and London and did not intend to return to creative activities. Perhaps because he has fresh memories of the USSR and the feeling of a “burnt space” in terms of music. However, the producer said that life was in full swing in those years.

He said record stores sell hundreds of CDs a day, and names like Nick Cave, Smashing Pumpkins and Marc Almond come to the concerts.

“I began to take Ilya around the wholesalers’ warehouses, showing them what they were releasing: when he saw 3000 compacts of the Pulp – Different Class album in the pirate CD Land warehouse, he realized that there was an audience here, and even the pirates began to understand fashionable music. Meanwhile, Pulp performed very poorly; I wouldn’t be surprised if they never sold this edition. But it made a strong impression on Ilya,” Burlakov said.

He added that a few months later, in April 1996, Lagutenko sent him the first tape.
