Artist Eduardo Lastres moves his studio to the Fish Market Alicante with the idea of bringing the process of creating his works closer to the public. To achieve this, he set up his workspace next to the municipal exhibition hall where his exhibition was located. I live in different places until next March 24th.
This project aims to enable the public to enter the exhibition area through the work process and see an artist’s workshop in all its conditions: painting, sculpture and collage materials, brushes, rollers, canvases, woods and various tests in different materials. and disciplines. Like this, Art will be analyzed from another perspective, with more emphasis on the creative process until you get a completely finished job.
Lastres will be open from 19.00 to 21.00 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, but the rest of the time the venue will be open so people can observe the new pieces emerging from their work in the impromptu workshop. Moreover, This innovative idea aims to respond to the socially existing lack of knowledge regarding the times of creation of artists from different disciplines such as painting and sculpture.It also shows what elements are needed to realize the parts and the materials used.
The importance of this idea also lies in the search for dialogue with the audience through active participation. This initiative provides a space for the art room visitor to connect directly with the author, watch him work, share his views and ideas, and participate in the creation of his works. Thus, it will be possible to see how his works are transformed into new pieces that will remain in the room until the end of the exhibition. “It’s a way to make art more visible and understandable. The dialogue between the artist and the public is even more necessary in certain moments of division regarding contemporary art,” says Lastres.
In this dialogue, the public will receive information about the author’s books and catalogs, as well as conversations about the reason for his work. The description will be enhanced by videos from the same room to learn about the artist’s directions and creative concepts. “I believe that doing this communication project with the audience can be enriching for both of us. This closeness can reduce distances and show what the work of art is like, the reason for its existence.”The artist comments.
