Russian publishing house AST announced the suspension of payments under all contracts concluded with the writer Lyudmila Ulitskaya after she admitted in a conversation with Russian jokers that she sent money for the needs of Ukraine. reported to the TASS agency in the press service of the publishing house.

“In connection with the author’s statement on the transfer of copyrights to Ukraine, the AST publishing house has decided to suspend all payments under all contracts with Ulitskaya,” the message says.

On the morning of February 1, the Agency’s publication (the organization is included in the list of foreign agents by the Ministry of Justice) reported that Ulitskaya’s books had disappeared from the card index of the electronic system of the Moscow Library. The publication claims that at 8:00 there was an opportunity to book the author’s books in the capital’s libraries, but at 9:30 it was not possible to do this – Ulitskaya’s novels were not found in the search results. Collections containing only the author’s works existed.

According to Mash, Ulitskaya’s books in digital and print formats have indeed been partially removed from Moscow libraries. The Telegram channel also reported that the Read-Gorod and Respublika book chains are ready to suspend the sale of the author’s books.

The other day, the head of the State Duma Committee on Culture, Elena Yampolskaya, said that Ulitskaya was stripped of the title of honorary professor at the Russian Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology (RHTU) on August 30, 2023. The MP said such information was included in his response to the university’s request. During the conversation, the author also assessed that the conflict with Russia is fateful for Ukraine, as it will allow the country to “find its place in the European society” and become an independent state.
