Activist Vitaly Borodin sent an appeal asking the director of the movie “The Master and Margarita” to check whether he received funds from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The reason for the objection was Lokshin’s social media posts criticizing SVO.
Borodin noted that “The Master and Margarita”, which was released in January, was shot with funds provided from the state budget, and approximately 800 million rubles were spent on the film. Lokshin also published posts supporting Alexei Navalny and donated funds to Ukrainian documentarian Mila Zhluktenko.
The activist claims that the director “openly supports Ukraine” and quotes Lokshin: “Generations of Russians will have to pay compensation for the tragedy they brought to Ukraine.”

“At the end of the film’s shooting period, in the fall of 2021, director Mikhail Lokshin, who completed his contractual obligations and financial relations with the production companies, returned to the USA. The creators emphasized that further work on the project is being carried out under the control of the filmmakers.
Mars Media stated that the project was created with the support of the state and noted that it would be impossible to implement such projects without this assistance.
