Israel will try to help members of the Russian rock band Bi-2 detained in Thailand. This was reported by RIA News referring to Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Lior Hayat.
“The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the embassy in Thailand are in contact with Israeli citizens and are trying to assist them,” he said.
The diplomat confirmed that we are talking about four musicians who, in addition to Russians, also have Israeli citizenship.
Members of the Bi-2 group refused to meet the Russian consul who visited them in the temporary detention center of the Thai immigration police.
It is known that five of the seven members of the group are citizens of Russia, two more members entered Thailand using Australian and Israeli passports – soloists Shura (Alexander Uman) and Leva (Egor Bortnik (recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent).
Members of the Bi-2 group were detained on the Thai island of Phuket for holding a concert without a work permit. Each musician was fined and detained for later deportation to their country of citizenship. According to the law, they must be deported to the country from which they entered Thailand with a passport.
