Director of the Maly Theater Tamara Mikhailova said that the employees of the cultural institution reacted positively to the appointment of Alexei Dubrovsky to the post of chief director. His words were quoted HABER.ru.
“For us, this is the best option, because for the last two years he has led all the openings of the group’s gathering and was responsible for the creative component together with Yuri Solomin. He gave many successful performances here. So this decision is great for us,” said Mikhailova.
On January 29, Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova announced on her Telegram channel the appointment of Alexey Dubrovsky as chief director of the Maly Theatre. The Minister noted that he decided on the new president of the institution after a series of meetings with the theater troupe and management. Lyubimova expressed her belief that Dubrovsky could preserve the unique traditions of the Maly Theater.
The previous head of the Maly Theater, Yuri Solomin, passed away on January 11. Relatives and friends of the artist, colleagues, politicians, among them Olga Lyubimova, actor Dmitry Medvedev, actor Sergei Garmash, actor Vsevolod Shilovsky, rector of the Higher Theater School named after MS. Shchepkina Boris Lyubimov, Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Bastrykin.
