The Skaz puppet theater in the Kemerovo region was named after the People’s Artist of Russia Vladimir Mashkov. The order to rename the theater in Novokuznetsk was published on the website of the regional government.
According to the governor of the Kemerovo region, Sergei Tsivilev, the decision will have a positive impact on the development of Kuzbass culture and help young professionals to reveal their creative potential.
“Vladimir Lvovich regularly visits Novokuznetsk, despite his busyness and popularity. He spent his childhood here, his family worked in a puppet theater, and it was Mashkov who suggested giving the reconstructed building of the old cinema to the Skaz theater,” the Governor stated on the Telegram channel.
Novokuznetsk Puppet Theater was founded on February 8, 1942. Kommunar cinema, now one of the oldest buildings in the city, opened after reconstruction in June 2022. The capacity of the auditorium, equipped with new equipment, is 235 seats.
