Actor Paul Mescal posted a photo with director Ridley Scott on Instagram (the owner of the company Meta is known as an extremist and is banned in Russia) and announced that the shooting of Gladiator 2 has been completed.
Work on the sequel was supposed to be finished earlier, but filming was postponed due to strikes in Hollywood. In December 2023, Scott admitted that he still had to shoot about 90 more minutes of the film. The sequel was shot in Malta and Morocco.
The cast of the project includes Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn and Connie Nielsen. The plot of the new “Gladiator” will tell about the events that will occur 25 years after the end of the first episode.
The film was planned to be released in November 2024, but due to the suspension of production, it is not yet known whether the team will be able to meet the deadline.
On November 22, the world premiere of Ridley Scott’s historical film Napoleon took place. The film tells the story of Napoleon Bonaparte (Joaquin Phoenix)’s power in France and his relationship with Josephine Beauharnais, played by actress Vanessa Kirby. 23 December, son of former French President Louis Sarkozy named Scott’s run was a disaster. Sarkozy Jr. pointed out that the director could not convey “neither a person nor a period” in the film. He considered the film, starring Joaquin Phoenix, a failure.
