“Echo” – mini-series, Created by Marion Dare

Where and when to watch: On Disney+ and Hulu – January 9

A Marvel superhero film about deaf Native American Maya “Echo” Lopez, who appears in the Hawkeye franchise. Actress Alaqua Cox returns to play the title role, and the series also stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio from Netflix’s Daredevil.

“Criminal Record” – season 1, created by Paul Rutman

Where and when to watch: On Apple TV+ – January 10

A British thriller about two detectives, one experienced, one novice, who return to an old murder case after an anonymous call. Actors: Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who, Thickness) and Cush Jumbo (“The Good Wife”, “The Good Fight”).

“Ted” – Season 1, created by Seth MacFarlane

Where and when to watch: At Peacock – January 11

A prequel to Seth MacFarlane’s film dilogy about a Bostonian and his best friend, a reanimated teddy bear. The series will take place in the mid-90s and will be dedicated to the childhood of the heroes. Ted Bear is once again voiced by MacFarlane.

“Detective Forst” – season 1, created by Agata Malesińska, Jacek Markiewicz and Leszek Dawid

Where and when to watch: On Netflix starting January 11

Polish detective story based on the cycle by writer Remigiusz Mruz about investigator Viktor Forst. In the story, the protagonist is fired from the authorities for his questionable methods, but continues to investigate a series of brutal murders as an ordinary citizen, joining forces with a journalist.

“Belgravia: The Next Chapter” – miniseries, created by Helen Edmundson

Where and when to watch: On MGM+ – starting January 14

The continuation of the mini-series based on Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes’ novel about the Belgravia region of London. The Next Chapter will be set in 1871, decades after the events of the original series, and will focus on a new generation of Trenchards.

“True Detective” – Season 4: “Nightland” created by Issa Lopez and Nic Pizzolatto

Where and when to watch: On HBO – starting January 15

The long-awaited return of Nic Pizzolatto’s mystery anthology series has handed the showrunner reins over to Issa Lopez (who also directed all six episodes). The fourth season will take place in a town in Alaska where two partners live. (Jodie Foster and boxer Kali Race) It will investigate the disappearance of eight scientists from a research station.

“Monsieur Spade” – miniseries, created by Scott Frank and Tom Fontana

Where and when to watch: At AMC and Amediateka – from January 15

A detective story about Sam Spade, a private detective, from Dashiell Hammett’s novel The Maltese Falcon (as well as four lesser-known stories by the author). In the series, the hero, who retired and settled in the south of France, returns to duty to solve the murders of six nuns. Starring Clive Owen.

“Beautiful” – mini-series

Where and when to watch: From 18 January – at Premier

In a crime drama starring Oleg Menshikov, Philip Yankovsky and “Silver Skates” star Fyodor Fedotov, a young car thief who dreams of avenging his father’s death joins forces with the former director of a precious metals processing plant.

“Hazbin Hotel” – season 1, created by Vivien Medrano

Where and when to watch: On Amazon Prime Video – starting January 19

A long-form animated musical about the princess of an overpopulated Hell who searches for a way to rehabilitate sinners (the pilot episode premiered in fall 2019; the spinoff series “Hell Boss” has since been released) so they too can go to Heaven.

“Cristóbal Balenciaga” – miniseries, created by Aitor Arreji, Hon Garaño, José Mari Goenaga and Lourdes Iglesias

Where and when to watch: On Disney+ – starting January 19

A biopic about Cristobal Balenciaga, Basque fashion designer and founder of haute couture house Balenciaga.

“The Others” – Season 1

Where and when to watch: In Kinopoisk – from January 25

Retro fantasy about people with superpowers in an alternate 1940s Europe.

“Sexy Monster” – season 1, created by Michael Caleo

Where and when to watch: On Paramount+ – starting January 25

Jonathan Glazer’s feature film debut is a prequel to the crime drama Sexy Beast. The plot focuses on best friends and thieves Gal Dove and Don Logan, who are drawn into the London underworld in the 90s. In the original film, the characters were played by Ray Winstone and Ben Kingsley, while in the new version they are played by James McArdle. (“Andor”) and Emun Elliot (“Women’s happiness”). The showrunner of the project is Michael Caleo, who co-wrote the script of the movie Malavita, written by Luc Besson.

“Masters of the Air” – miniseries, created by John Shiban and John Orloff

Where and when to watch: On Apple TV+ – January 26

The spiritual successor to Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks’ miniseries Band of Brothers and The Pacific. The story follows the pilots of the US Air Force’s 100th Bomb Group, nicknamed the “Bloody 100th” due to their heavy losses during World War II.

Directors include Cary Fukunaga (“True Detective,” “No Time to Die”). Lead actors include Austin Butler (Elvis), Callum Turner (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald), Anthony Boyle (Tetris), Barry Keoghan (Saltburn), Shuti Gatva (“Sexy epiphany”, “Doctor Who”) and others.

“Expatriates” – mini-series, created by Lulu Wang

Where and when to watch: On Amazon Prime Video – starting January 26

Drama series Lulu Wang (“Separation”) with Nicole Kidman – about “the vibrant life of a close-knit immigrant community” (People who left their homeland and lost their citizenship).
