British actor Tom Wilkinson passed away at the age of 75. TV channel reported this Weather referring to his relatives.

“It is with great sadness that the family of Tom Wilkinson announces that he passed away suddenly at his home on December 30th. His wife and family were with him,” his manager said in a statement on behalf of the family.

During a career that spanned nearly 50 years, Wilkinson won numerous acting awards and was nominated for an Oscar twice. The actor won a Golden Globe and an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Benjamin Franklin in the 2008 HBO series John Adams.

Wilkinson was born in 1948 into a farming family in the Wharfedale valley of Yorkshire. He gained fame and critical acclaim with the movie “The Full Monty”, in which he played steel mill foreman Gerald Arthur Cooper, who tries to hide his dismissal from his wife. Famous films in his career include the drama “Shakespeare in Love” and the action films “Batman”. Inception” and “Mission Impossible”, the drama “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”.
