The soundtrack of Zhora Kryzhovnikov’s series “The Boy’s Word” included six songs from “Mirage” – “New Hero”, “I’m Not Kidding”, “Music Connected Us”, “Together Again”, “Sunny Summer” and “Video”. ”. Group members Ekaterina Boldysheva and Alexey Gorbashov, in a conversation with socialbites.ca, stated that after the release of the project, young people began to be more actively involved in their work.
“The hits of the Mirage group have become a part of the culture of our country and a kind of symbol of that era, so it is not surprising that the producers decided to use them in the series.
“Now we are receiving a lot of comments from representatives of the younger generation – they write that thanks to the series they heard good music and this cannot but rejoice,” shared the artists.
According to Boldysheva and Gorbashov, they watched “The Boy’s Word” with interest and considered it an “honest and reliable film”:
“As much as I want to close my eyes to it, it is part of our country’s history. The film quite realistically reflects the atmosphere of those years and is well shot, which is probably why it became so popular. We have absolutely no nostalgia this time.
For most of those living in our country, the end of the 80s was a period when some changes were expected and believed in a bright tomorrow, but all these expectations and hopes collapsed overnight. A real chaos began in the country and the redistribution of everything imaginable, and all this happened without the participation of men in tracksuits with shaved heads, who at that time considered themselves masters of life.
The musicians noted that banditry did not develop only in Kazan, they traveled the country a lot and saw with their own eyes that it was everywhere.
“If we talk about our impressions of the film, it evokes a painful feeling; None of us achieved the romance that the critics talked about. And the heroes of the film evoke more pity than sympathy – they fell into the meat grinder of that time.
Gorbashov and Boldysheva, the story of the main character of the film, Andrei, is very revealing; If he had basic protection and the opportunity for self-realization, his fate could have turned out completely differently.
They also called out criticism of the series for allegedly romanticizing the lifestyle of the main characters as unfounded. According to the artists, it is not the creators of the project who should make the claim, but “the authorities for whom this is possible.”
The authors of the series can only be “blamed” for speaking honestly about these pages of our history. And in general, it is wrong to give a “sentence” about the film until the final episodes are released and accuse the authors of the film of immorality. “The Boy’s Promise” is a Russian crime drama directed by Zhora Kryzhovnikov about youth groups in Kazan in the late 1980s. In the story, 14-year-old Andrei, who comes from an intelligent family, joins a youth group to protect himself from the pressure of street youth. The main roles in the series were played by Ivan Yankovsky, Ruzil Minekaev, Leon Kemstach, Elizaveta Bazykina, Anna Peresild and Anastasia Krasovskaya.
Following the project’s release, some government officials saw in it a romanticization of banditry. It was later learned that Roskomnadzor did not detect any violations of the law in the series. Nikita Mikhalkov, Ksenia Sobchak, Maxim Fadeev, Artemy Lebedev and others spoke in defense of the drama.
