State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev suggested that Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova develop an additional support program for films depicting state symbols of Russia (coat of arms, anthem, flag). This was reported by RIA News.
According to Khamzaev, symbols of the state should be presented “with the correct image of patriotism.”
“We should not hesitate to popularize the symbols of our homeland. […] “If you show the symbols of the state in your films, you will receive additional support and priority rights for film screening on national television,” he said.
He asked the head of the Ministry of Culture to consider the possibility of including the display of state symbols in the list of priority issues for state support of film production, and also to determine the feasibility of allocating funds from the state budget for this.
“Sometimes you ask yourself: a good movie, but little reflection of state symbols for this or that event,” Khamzaev explained, adding that he thought it was important to form among young people a sense of belonging to “our strong state”.
