Kekhman will stage an opera about an immigrant ballerina

Vladimir Kekhman, artistic director of the Mikhailovsky Theatre, will stage an opera for the first time as a director. Fontanka reports this.

Kekhman’s production will be called “The Lady of the Camellias”, like the famous drama by Alexandre Dumas – he adapted the libretto by Francesco Maria Piave for Verdi’s opera “La Traviata”. Kekhman carried the event to the first half of the twentieth century.

The theater wants to present the life story of Russian immigrant ballerina Margarita, who will have to choose between the stage, emotions and money after the 1917 revolution.
