Russian writers Vladimir Sorokin, Lyudmila Ulitskaya and Viktor Yerofeyev denied accusations of supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and encouraging terrorism. Objection text published RBC.
The accusations against the authors emerged after the signed copy of the book “Slovo Novo”. Exit” was presented to gallery owner Marat Gelman (recognized as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation). He later sold the publication at an auction in Vilnius, where funds were raised to support the Russian Legion of Freedom (an organization banned in Russia).
In their objections, the authors noted that after that the Russian media began to accuse them of supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine and appealed to the Investigative Committee of the “People’s Call” organization and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Russian Federation. I demand that they check whether they are encouraging terrorism.
“We find such accusations absurd and declare that we do not support or finance any military organization, military unit or army. The authors stated that the book given to Marat Gelman was his property and he had the right to dispose of it.
