Theater and film actor Anatoly Yabbarov passed away at the age of 86. The portal reports this kino-theater.ru.
According to the portal, the death of the actor occurred on November 6.
Difficult childhood in a large family
The actor was born on August 24, 1937 in the village of Karachukhur in Baku. The family had seven children, the youngest was Yabbarov. His father died when the artist was a baby. It was difficult for a large family to live without a breadwinner, and it became even more difficult when the war began.
The actor’s mother worked as a kindergarten teacher. Since the family had no money, she also took a night job. Neighbors also helped the Yabbarovs, but despite all efforts, not all seven children survived, only four siblings remained.
After the end of the war, things got easier for the family. They were given a one-room apartment in Baku.
Yabbarov had his first acting experience when he was 14 years old. He worked in theater and choreography departments and performed on stage with these groups. He loved creativity, but due to his family’s unstable financial situation, he decided to enroll at the Yabbarov Faculty of Physics and Mathematics. After graduating from school, he applied to Ashgabat University.
While studying, Yabbarov found a part-time job to help his family. He was able to last a year and a half at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, and then decided to transfer to the Faculty of Russian Language and Literature. But the desire to become an actor overcame him and he moved to Moscow, entering GITIS for the first time.
His mother and brothers remained in Baku; One became a neurosurgeon, the second a scientist, and the third a professor of architecture. Yabbarov came to his hometown every year to visit his relatives. After the death of his last relative in 1988, the actor stopped coming to his hometown. The 83-year-old actor will tell reporters that he misses Baku. Although he is a native of Baku and speaks the Azerbaijani language, he regrets that he managed to act in only one Azerbaijani film throughout his creative career. According to him, when he meets with compatriots in Moscow, he communicates with them in Azerbaijani.
In the capital of Russia, Yabbarov started a family. He is survived by a son and grandson.
Actor career
In his third year at GITIS, Yabbarov made his film debut in the drama “Once Upon a Time There Was an Old Man and an Old Woman”, after which he was invited to the films “Loneliness” and “Odessa Holidays”. After some time, he met directors Alexander Alov and Vladimir Naumov and received several episodic roles. So he played Vanya in “A Bad Joke”, the White Guard in “Running”, a blind man in “The Legend of Tila”, and also starred in the films “The Secret of Nardo or The Dream of the White Dog”. ,” “Clock Without Hands,” and “Mona Lisa on the Asphalt.”
Yabbarov starred in many films, but mostly in episodic roles. He gained popularity with the films Gentlemen of Fortune (1971), The Two Captains (1976) and Prison Break (1977). He was especially good with negative characters; They received great response from the audience. Despite this, he was ashamed of playing such roles. At some point, directors began to offer him only negative characters. Radomir Vasilevsky explained his decision by saying that Yabbarov was an intelligent person in life, so it was easier for him to turn into a villain.
“I think I’ve been lucky in my life in general. “Even though I often played negative roles, I still made them positive and justified all my actions as an actor in my heart,” he said. “Lyubertsy panorama”.
Yabbarov was not only an actor but also a director. He found work at the Film Actors Theater in the late 1980s. Yabbarov explains his choice as the beginning of perestroika. According to him, there were very few worthy directors in the 90s, so there were almost no good films coming out, and he did not want to act in crime dramas.
“It was a difficult time here then: the theater was divided into two camps. I stayed with the older generation: Lyubov Sokolova, Ivan Ryzhov, Lydia Smirnova. I brought the play “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King”, based on Hoffmann’s fairy tale of the same name, to Oleg Strizhenov, who was a member of the theater board at that time. He read it and asked how long it would take to stage the play. “In a month if you rehearse every day,” I surprised Oleg Alexandrovich. “Too fast? Let’s get started!” However, the premiere day did not come as quickly as we expected: The show was ready, the scenes were rehearsed, but the theater had no money to sew costumes or decorate. Therefore, viewers saw the fairy tale only on the eve of 1990,” Yabbarov said in an interview with Lyubertsy Panorama.
In the following years, Yabbarov staged the musical play “From afar, confused” and the fairy tale “Exactly at twelve.” The theater management asked him to direct the play “The Wisdom of Eve” based on the story of Mary Orr. At first Yabbarov did not want to do this because the game seemed boring to him. But he managed to present it in such a way that the performance lasted on stage for several years and enjoyed popularity. Yabbarov also played the role of theatrical agent Bert Hinkle.
