Big Book National Literary Award Finalists Announced

The finalists of the national literary award “Big Book” have been announced. DEA News”

The finalists were determined according to the results of the public vote held on the eve of the opening of the Red Square book festival in the GUM Performance Hall. A total of 301 applications were made for the award, with 48 works in the long list announced on 19 April.

So, the shortlist is Pavel Basinsky (“The True Story of Anna Karenina”), Sergei Belyakov (“Paris Children in Stalin’s Moscow”), Alexei Varlamov (“Rozanov’s Name”), Dmitry Danilov (“Sasha, hello!”), Oleg Ermakov (“Olaf’s Spring”), Ruslan Kozlov (“Stabat Mater”), Afanasy Mamedov (“Babelon Steamboat”), Anna Matveeva (“Every Hundred Years. A Daily Romance”), Sofia Sinitskaya (“Humpback Chronicle”) and Yakhina the Beautiful (“Echelon in Samarkand”).

The winner will receive over a hundred professional writers, cultural figures, scientists, etc. will be determined by the jury, especially the artistic director of the theatre. The National Literary Prize “Big Book” was established by the partnership of the non-profit “Center for the Promotion of Russian Literature”, it has existed since 2005.
