People’s Artist of the Lugansk People’s Republic Mikhail Golubovich died at the age of 79. LPR acting chairman Leonid Pasechnik announced this on his Telegram channel.
Golubovich died after a serious illness. Pasechnik expressed his condolences to the artist’s family and friends. He described the actor as a “legendary man” who devoted his whole life to the development of the culture of his hometown.
“I am happy to have had the honor of knowing this wonderful man closely. Mikhail Golubovich always formulated his main life principle as follows: “You have to drive!” “Pasechnik could not live without his local theater, without new roles and performances, without communicating with students to whom he has transferred his skills for years, without parliamentary work and much more,” he said.
Mikhail Golubovich was born on November 21, 1943 in the city of Zolotonosha. He graduated from the Kiev State Institute of Theater Arts in 1967. IK Karpenko-Kary. After graduation, he started working at the Lugansk Academic Ukrainian Music and Drama Theatre. In 1987, the artist became artistic director. Since 2000, he has taught acting at the Lugansk Institute of Culture and Arts.
Golubovich made his cinematic debut in 1967 with the movie “I Accepted Forever”. The actor’s filmography includes more than 70 roles. He took part in projects such as “Silent Don”, “The Beginning of an Unknown Century”, “Dirk”, “How the Steel Was Tempered”, “Thought About Kovpak: Alarm”, “Swan Geese Are Flying”, “Walking”. In Torment”, “The Legend of Princess Olga.
In 1977 Golubovich was awarded the title of People’s Artist of the Ukrainian SSR, and in 2015 he became the People’s Artist of the LPR. In 2023, he received the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.
