Actor Michael Gambon, who played Albus Dumbledore in the film saga about the young wizard Harry Potter, has died at the age of 83. In this respect reports ITV quotes the family of the deceased.

The actor’s widow and son Fergus said that the death occurred after battling pneumonia in the hospital.

“It is with sadness that we share the news of the death of Sir Michael Gambon. The actor’s family stated that Michael, a beloved husband and father, died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus.

Irish actor Michael Gambon began his career at Britain’s National Theatre, directed by Laurence Olivier.

He has played Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts School of Magic, since 2004, replacing the late actor Richard Harris in the role.

Gambon ConfessedI have not read a single book by JK Rowling, the author of stories about a scarred boy with magical powers who limits himself to movie scripts.

The artist continued to act in films until 2019.
