At its plenary meeting on September 26, the State Duma adopted a draft resolution on the establishment of a medal named after director Stanislav Govorukhin (1936-2018). This was reported by RIA News
“The medal we determined today has the status of departmental award of the State Duma. Viktor Pinsky, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Regulations, will be awarded for services to citizens of the Russian Federation and foreign citizens in the field of culture, humanitarian activities, patriotic education and international cooperation.
The parliamentarian recalled that Govorukhin worked in the State Duma for more than 20 years.
“Stanislav Sergeevich Govorukhin is an extraordinary person, our colleague… He chaired the Culture Committee, won numerous awards as an actor, director, screenwriter, and made a great contribution to the cultural, social and political life of our country. Pinsky justified the decision.
Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin proposed the establishment of the Govorukhin Medal in June. The award’s design featuring the profile of Stanislav Govorukhin has already been approved.
