The premiere of the symphonic cycle of composer Konstantin Khazanovich “The Master and Margarita” in the literary and musical production directed by Ivan Minevtsev will take place on September 23 on the stage of the Moscow International House of Music. “While working on the creation of the cycle, I tried to understand and reveal the deep meanings put forward by the author and, with the help of music, find answers to eternal questions that permeate the plot of the novel,” says Khazanovich. his rethinking of Mikhail Bulgakov’s novel, which formed the basis of the cycle.
The eight movements of the cycle will be performed by the Two Capitals Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Mikhail Golikov. The musical works include a theatrical performance in which three actors (Giuliano di Capua, Sofia Shustrova and Alexander Mitskevich) read scenes from the novel on video sets specially created for the production.
The director of the project was Ivan Minevtsev, who together with Khazanovich created the play “Onegin”, which was awarded the national award by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation for the best performance based on Russian classics in 2022.
