Director Denis Villeneuve said in an interview with the magazine: Imperial Magazine It’s about his desire to continue his “desert planet exploration” created in Frank Herbert’s third film based on “Dune” if it gets the green light.
“If I manage to create a trilogy, it will be my dream,” he told the broadcast.
Dune 2 picks up where it first left off: Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) finally reaches Chani (Zendai) and joins forces with the Fremen to defeat the evil Harkonnen. The sequel will also feature artists: Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård and Dave Bautista.
New cast members include the albino Austin Butler as Fayd Routh; Christopher Walken as Emperor; Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan Corrino; Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot; and Suheila Yacoub as Shishali.
Sharing the trailer of the movie at CinemaCon in April, Villeneuve explained that he put a lot of effort into making the second movie unique. “The first episode is more of a thought provoking movie. The second part is an epic action-packed war movie. It is much more intense. We went to all the new places,” he said, and continued: “I didn’t want the feeling of repetition. All new”.
Dune: Part Two was originally scheduled to hit theaters on November 3, but was delayed to March 15, 2024 due to the current cast strike preventing the movie’s star cast from promoting the movie.
