1937 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs animator David Hand’s son, David Hand, accused Disney of making the film’s remake and said the new version “insulted” his father’s work. It has been reported Telegram.
According to Hand, the upcoming “Snow White” will destroy Walt Disney’s creation and the cartoonist himself. He emphasized that the young people who criticized the plot of the original version had never seen the film and did not understand its meaning. The Telegraph notes that Hand refers to the words of actress Rachel Zegler, who played the main character in the remake, acknowledging that the plot of the old “Snow White” goes against modern feminist values.
“The new version has a completely different concept, which I completely disagree with. I know Dad and Walt won’t be very happy either,” Hand said.
He noted that the 1937 version was tastefully done. He also complained that Disney was doing it too often, radically reworking the original stories.
“I think what they did to some classic movies was downright offensive. No respect for Disney or my father. I think they turn over in their graves,” Hand summed up.
The remake of “Snow White” is scheduled to premiere in March 2024. Spanish actress Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) will star in the movie, while Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot will play the role of Evil Queen.
