Actress Lyudmila Chursina admitted in an interview with Boris Korchevnikov that in Soviet times she often received offers to act in Hollywood.
Foreign directors became interested in Chursina after the release of the movie “Crane” in 1968. The actress recalled that the head of the State Committee of the USSR Council of Ministers on cinematography, Philip Yermash, forbade her to act in Hollywood.
Chursina does not regret not starring in a Hollywood movie. At that time, the actress had a lot of business in Russia.
“Years later, when we went to the American delegation and we were in Hollywood, some quotes were shown there. And suddenly, a rather old man sat next to me. He says: “Why didn’t you come? You could have had a different fate.” I say: “You know, I’m overjoyed with my fate. I don’t want another one,” said the actress.
In 1963, Chursina began her acting career at the EB Vakhtangov State Academic Theater. She became an actress at the Lenfilm film studio in 1965. In 1981, the star was awarded the title of People’s Artist of the USSR.
