Circus artist Nikolaev hospitalized for jaundice

The 85-year-old artist, Soviet circus legend Andrei Nikolaev, was urgently hospitalized in a Moscow clinic with an acute stage of obstructive jaundice. In this respect informs Telegram channel Mash.

Nikolaev, who appeared on the stage as the clown Andryusha, was also diagnosed with coronavirus. Doctors are now monitoring the condition of the artist.

According to a source familiar with the matter, Nikolaev needs surgery to get rid of his jaundice, but he refuses to do so. Doctors warn that the consequences of his condition can be serious, up to liver failure.

Andrei Nikolaev, People’s Artist of Russia, one of the mentors of singer Alla Pugacheva and the only winner of the main circus award “Grock’s Golden Mask” in the USSR. In his youth, he joined the clown Kalem, under the charm of the illusionist Emil Kio. Since 1976, Nikolaev has been teaching at GITIS (now RATI) at the Department of Diversity Directors (since 1988 – professor).
