Representatives of the National Satellite Company (NSK), which owns the Tricolor Cinema and TV video service, were invited by Roskomnadzor (RKN) to draw up a protocol on the LGBT propaganda case. This was reported by two sources from major online cinemas to the newspaper. “Vedomosti”. Sources say that banned content was found in the “Key Game” movie hosted on this service.
The representative of NSC confirmed that the company received a call from the RKN department for the North-West Federal District with a request to provide explanations and draw up a protocol on an administrative offense. According to him, the allegation concerns the distribution of the film, which, according to RKN, features an LGBT theme that is against the administrative law.
The MGK representative added that the company representatives are currently examining the allegations and the distribution conditions of the film and are preparing their legal positions.
This is the first case of violation detected by Roskomnadzor regarding an audio-visual service using the law on the prohibition of LGBT propaganda, enacted in December 2022. Previously, the service made protocols for video services to only show prohibited content to minors. By law, such content must be marked as “18+”. RKN has already prepared more than 30 protocols on such violations.
Showing movies and TV shows containing LGBT propaganda is prohibited. For such violations, individuals are fined from 50,000 to 400,000 rubles, officials – from 100,000 to 800,000 rubles, and legal entities – from 5 million rubles. Sites that disseminate such information are under threat of being included in the registry of banned sites and subsequently blocked.
Spanish comedy The Key Game (El juego de las llaves) received a distribution license from the Ministry of Culture in September 2022, as shown in the ministerial record. The film is approved for audiences over the age of 18 and may be shown in theaters, physical media, and other forms.
