According to Tenyakova, Demyanenko hated the role of Shurik in comedies directed by Leonid Gaidai. The artist believed that he “destroyed his acting.” Due to the fact that the audience had the image of a comedic character, Demyanenko was rarely taken to dramatic roles.

Demyanenko’s filmography includes more than 110 films. He also worked as a dubbing actor in projects such as Tarzan, My Favorite Martian, Mulan, Armageddon, Benefactor, No Face, Hercules.
Alexander Demyanenko died on August 22, 1999 at the age of 62.
