Russian artists and cultural figures Philip Kirkorov, Vladimir Vinokur, Evgeny Petrosyan and Irina Viner-Usmanova have been declared persona non grata in Latvia. This was announced by the country’s Secretary of State, Edgars Rinkevics, in his microblog on Twitter.
“Based on paragraph 2 of article 61 of the Migration Law, I decided to include citizens of the Russian Federation. <...> Putting an indefinite ban on entry into Latvia on the list of persons undesirable for the Republic of Latvia,” he wrote.
Rinkevics described the reason for this step as their active support for the actions of the Russian authorities in the framework of the Ukraine crisis.
Former name Kirkorov not allowed to join Estonia. Singer Polina Gagarina, who was scheduled to give a concert on September 23, was also banned from entry for five years.
Before that, the Estonian Council of Ministers he made a decision authorize the local Ministry of Internal Affairs to restrict the entry of cultural figures who support the actions of the RF Armed Forces on the territory of Ukraine.
