“The main event of the movie is the desertion of enlisted Lubomir Zukh. Dramaturgy is based on counterpoint. On the one hand – a desperate thirst for love, on the other – war. We are talking about youth in the war, about feelings and duty, about growing up, about the clash of morality and law,” said director Ainur Askarov.
The plot tells about the 20-year-old tanker Lubomir Zukh, who fell in love with Maria Teresa, the daughter of the Spanish communists. They started a relationship, so when the episode sounded “lights out”, the young soldier rushed on a date with his girlfriend to say the last words before the war. However, his act was considered desertion, which at the time was punishable by the death penalty.
