Channel One’s managing director, producer Konstantin Ernst, admitted that the idea for the feature film “Challenge” was conceived in 2000, but then it did not work out. It has been reported TASS.
According to Ernst, he negotiated with Roscosmos’ leadership and the documents were ready to be signed. “I will not reveal the real reasons why it did not work. We had to wait more than three years for what was promised,” he said, adding that it is important to take pictures in real space on the Russian part of the ISS.
Ernst also noted that NASA suggested that Klim Shipenko’s film be part of the filming of the Americas portion of the ISS. “There was a version of the script where Yulia was talking to the astronaut. But NASA said no. We’re still shooting in the dome, which is part of the American segment,” he said.
Starring Yulia Peresild, The Challenge is the first feature film shot in space aboard the International Space Station. He talks about a female doctor who went into orbit to save an astronaut.
The first screenings of the movie “Challenge” in Moscow began on April 12, Cosmonautics Day. The film will be released in wide screens in Russia on April 20.
