British actress Mia Goth, best known for Ty West’s horror films “X” and “Pearl”, has joined the cast of upcoming Marvel movie “Blade” alongside Mahershala Ali. (“Green Book”, “Moonlight”) in the title role reports the Deadline, citing its sources.
It has been noted that at this time there is no information about either the subject of the picture or who the Goth should play. The actress is currently busy filming the final installment of West’s trilogy, the horror movie Maxine, and is also in talks to appear in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein.
Blade is directed by Jan Demange, best known for Lovecraft Country and the crime drama White Boy Rick. He will direct the film from a script by Michael Starrbury, who previously worked on the Ava DuVernay miniseries When They See Us.
Comics about the half-vampire and vampire hunter Blade were already shot in the late 90s and early 2000s. In all three tapes released at that time – Blade, Blade 2 and Blade: Trinity – Wesley Snipes played the main character.
The character’s return to the screen and inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was first announced in 2019. Filming for the new Blade is expected to begin in May. The movie, scheduled for release on September 6, 2024, will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 5 and will be released between The Thunderbolts and Deadpool 3.
