Streaming service Max (HBO Max and Discovery+ combined) is making a series based on the horror series The Conjuring universe. He writes about the deadline.
The show is being developed by Peter Safran, co-author of the saga, who was recently appointed president of DC Studios, which he shared with cinematographer James Gunn. Conjuring creator James Wan is reportedly in talks to become an executive producer on the project.

The Conjuring series was launched in 2013. Its protagonists are Ed and Lorraine Warren, a real married couple of paranormal investigators. They were played on-screen by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. In addition to the two direct sequels, over the years the franchise has expanded with a number of spin-offs (Annabelle’s Curse, The Nun’s Curse and its sequels). The show had a total budget of $178 million and grossed over $2.1 billion at the box office, making The Conjuring the most successful horror series in history.
The next movie from this universe, “The Nun 2”, is scheduled to be released on September 8, 2023.
