Colin Farrell threatens his opponents in the first teaser of Matt Reeves’ series about Batman the Penguin

Streaming service Max (merging with HBO Max and Discovery+) has released a production teaser for Matt Reeves’ spin-off The Batman, which features the gangster Penguin starring Colin Farrell.

The video includes both footage from the upcoming show and videos from the Penguin set. Deadline compares the series’ visuals to the iconic The Sopranos.

“If you cross the line, I’ll pierce you like a goddamn fish!” In one of the scenes shown, Farrell’s hero cries out.

“The world wasn’t made for guys like us. That’s why we have to take everything we think is ours,” says Penguin’s voice-over.

With words Farrell himself, Penguin’s plot will revolve around his character Oz Penguin Cobblepot’s rise to power after the murder of crime boss Carmine Falcone in the movie Batman.

Cristin Milioti is in the cast of the series. (“How I Met Your Mother”, “Hang Out in Palm Springs”), Michael Zegen (“The Incredible Miss Maisel”) and Clancy Brown (“Highland”, “John Wick 4”). Lauren Lefranc of Agents of SHIELD became Penguin showrunner, while Matt Reeves, writer of the original tape, joined the production team.

“The next chapter in the Batman saga” will premiere on Max in 2024.
