According to The Hollywood Reporter, members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers rock band paid tribute to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, who passed away on March 25, 2022.
Originally, the Foo Fighters were supposed to open a Jazz Festival in New Orleans, but after Hawkins’ sudden death, the musicians canceled the performance. The Red Hot Chili Peppers, who took their place, in solidarity dedicated the concert to Taylor, and drummer Chad Smith wrote the musician’s name on a drum decorated with a falcon, a tattoo of this bird on the body of the deceased artist.
“We love the Foo Fighters and especially our brother Taylor Hawkins. We are honored to play in his memory,” Smith shouted from the stage. In response, a crowd of fans joined in with the musician’s widow Alison and the Foo Fighters exclamations: “We love you Taylor.” Smith also added that the Red Hot Chili Peppers will embark on a tour dedicated to their friends: “I think you’ll like it.”
