According to Variety, Denzel Washington is ready to star in the second part of Ridley Scott’s historical drama “Gladiator.”
It is stated that the Hollywood actor will play a specially written role for him in the sequel. He liked the character that two-time Oscar winner Ridley Scott created for him so much that he agreed to take part in the project.
More details about the role have yet to be revealed. In the past, Washington and Scott worked together on the 2007 drama Gangster.
The main character of the movie, which is a sequel to Gladiator, will be Emperor Commodus’ nephew Lucius. It is already known that his role will be performed by Paul Mescal “My Sunshine”. The film is also in talks with Barry Keoghan (Chernobyl, Inisherin’s Banshee), who will be playing the role of Emperor Getu.
Gladiator 2 will hit worldwide theaters on November 22, 2024.
